network issue during installation alx module

Any work around for the missing alx module(atheros ar8162) in the Gentoo kernel? I am trying to install but cannot due to the missing ethernet controller interface. Can i compile the module without having to reboot because im running a live cd.

Or is there some work around for this?

Just use any Linux liveCD that has better wireless support. SystemRescueCd is a popular choice. I keep it in one of my USB sticks all the time, it is handy in many cases.

Sorry i forgot to mention that I'm going to install Gentoo from a live CD. That's the issue. The drivers I need in order to install Gentoo are not present on the live CD. At least with arch it has partial support for my network. I figured there might be a specific kernel I could load in the beginning of the installation that has the alx module and necessary drivers pre installed. Idk

Yes, that's why I recommended a better install media.

The point is that you don't need a gentoo livecd to install gentoo. Just pick a livecd that works with your hardware and follow the handbook.
