Kernel config change recompile?

After making changes to kernel configuration is it necessary to recompile my system or programs in my world file?

Hello Sherpa,

no, not really. You'll only have to recompile your Kernel, install it and install the modules (and if you use lilo you'll have to execute lilo).

You may have packages which install kernel modules of their own. In order to keep track of these, you can use module-rebuild. Most of these modules are affected only by version upgrades, but sometimes configuration changes also break them.
