Gentoo Emerge fail (Virtualbox)

I'm trying to install gentoo using virtualbox on my ubuntu, but when I have to update portage, it failes and says it "failed to fetch" the packages, like there is no connection. But I can download Stage3.tar.bz2 using gentoo, but not emerge. (Hope you understand)

What's wrong???

What about /etc/make.conf? Which mirror (variable "GENTOO_MIRRORS" in that file) & rsync (variable "SYNC" in that file) are you using?
In my case I put:
Can you pls as well post the emerge command you're running & post as well its output? Perhaps the download location is external from the main gentoo mirror you're using, and the server is temporarily offline or has changed name... .
