[gentoo] Smudged fonts in Firefox after upgrading to new xorg

the title says it all. After I've upgraded to new version of xorg some webpages show smudged fonts.
When I select the smudged text with my mouse it reverts to normal but in that instant when I'm going to a new webpage it goes back to appearing smudged once again. Any idea on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

If you want nice fonts and you have a LCD monitor
Code:

ufed # add bindist cleartype

unfortunatelly I'm still using crt. At any rate this problem only appears in firefox and no other application.
