Youtube has defeated my Youtube Ad blocker extensions

Youtube has defeated my Youtube Ad blocker extensions I've added to my Firefox (extensions)...

Oh well, I guess I should be watching the Ads to help them pay for their service...

And what, exactly, would you like anyone here to do about your 'problem'??? If you have complaints about YouTube, ask them.

It's an ongoing saga.....YT keeps changing its code to defeat the blockers, & then they catch up again....& so it goes on....

Give it a week or two, & get the latest version....

Go to the uBlock Origin Dashboard (in latest version, the icon is three cogs), select "Filter lists", then "Purge all caches" and "Update now".

It may take a few days for the unpaid volunteers who maintain filter lists to resolve issues; if updating fails try again later.

(Also consider alternative front-ends like Invidious, and direct downloaders like yt-dlp.)

I've noticed that youtube is showing adds now sometimes while you search for a video. Even if you use a mobile user agent and have backgrounds turned off.

Such as this:
https://0x0.st/Hyq0.png

They will pop an add video open, in the browser window, not in a pop up.

That's probably what the OP is referring to. I have not had time to look into what they are doing.

Yep, but I have no idea what the OP expects/wants/asks us to do. They've been here a LONG time now, so they're well familiar with Linux, Firefox, and other such things.

I can tell you that yt-dlp still works. I haven't looked at youtube videos in a web browser for, maybe 15 years. There are also several ways to search youtube without using a web browser, including yt-dlp itself.

You can also use google to search youtube, even by date range.
Code:
yt-dlp ytsearch20:codebeauty \
--flat-playlist \
--print "" \
--print "Video Title:" \
--print title \
--print "Video Duration:" \
--print duration_string \
--print "View Count:" \
--print view_count \
--print "Video Url:" \
--print urls

The format to use for using google to search youtube:

For a bash script:
Code:
url="https://www.google.com/search?q=site:youtube.com"
read -p "Enter/Paste utube search words (big+red+truck): " search_words
read -p "Enter dates (after:2020-05-01 before:2020-07-30): " date_range
goog_url=""$url"+"$search_words"+"$date_range""
echo "$goog_url"
Code:
url="https://www.google.com/search?q=site:youtube.com"

read -p "Enter/Paste utube search words (big+red+truck): " search_words
Enter/Paste utube search words (big+red+truck): codebeauty

read -p "Enter dates (after:2020-05-01 before:2020-07-30): " date_range
Enter dates (after:2020-05-01 before:2020-07-30): after:2022-11-01

goog_url=""$url"+"$search_words"+"$date_range""

echo "$goog_url"
https://www.google.com/search?q=site:youtube.com+codebeauty+after:2022-11-01

Options for YT browser ad-blocker blocker I've come across that seem to work (I haven't fully tested them)

1 the uBlock Origin thing above

2(a) FF sys prefs-> Security & privacy-> Manage Data & del youtube cookies.
NB eventually youtube will catch up, so this only works for a while.

2(b) FF same path as above, but 'Manage Exceptions' and tell it to block YT cookies ie stop YT from writing to disk...

3. Allegedly the 'Brave' browser in incognito (private ?) mode blocks the YT thing automatically.

HTH

Since, YouTube has it's own terms and policies as they offer a premium subscription to users at some cost, hence definitely, this social media platform, defeats or declines YouTube ad blocker extensions. Hence, it's just a waste of time to get an ad extension especially for YouTube.
