I'm currently trying to implement //////'s minimal music server with added transcoding on the fly. Listening to a mix of my complete music collection now, but the script is far from finished.
Sending ICY metadata with each song, in a simple bash script?

Anyhow, currently:
XTC - When you're near me I have difficulty
Soft Boys - I wanna destroy you

Ermm, Music in 2020 is NOT Music. Take me back to Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Bob Dylan, and other classic stuff, we are talking. 2020, is just a shitstorm of a year in all regards.

No, I was wrong: The music I posted is not in 2020, not even close.
I think I accidentally posted to the wrong thread.
I'm finding it increasingly hard to classify music in years - decades is about as fine-grained as I can get.
Plenty good stuff to go around, you're probably looking in the wrong places.

You might want to go back and re-read posts #4 and #6 ?

Reread the thread if you don't know why this was funny.

Drake's new album 'Certified Lover Boy'...I'm not saying it's a favorite but his last one was pretty good!

Whoa... Rhett Haney's cover of Scarecrow in the Garden is better than the original.

Do they still make 'albums' in 2020.....

....everthing went over to CDs after being on cassette tapes, which of course, superceeded vinyl.

My music is stuck in the 60s/70s.....it's just what I listen to, then & now.....

This one is from 2020 (youtube), and apparently there also is an album. Cool & disturbed!
It's just one of the better songs I hear on Bagel Radio; I like their unique way of playing classics alongside current stuff.

I listen to a lot of electronic ambient, too, but hardly ever bother to look it up; somehow the timeline seems to matter even less there.

Since you have it in your signature, you should be!
I want to add shoutcast-style song titles and transcode-on-the-fly with ffmpeg (so dd isn't actually required); not sure I can make it in a simple shell script like this.

Another 2020 Album:
Dias Raros by Melenas
The kind that doesn't have a blow-me-away single, but grows on you with every listen.

... and I stand by post #11.

If you're sick of today's autotuned cookie-cutter "pop stars" and "mumble rappers", then try the new Nightwish album(official youtube playlist): it's a grower, definitely needs a few listens, and I'm playing it a lot at the moment. I defy anyone to claim that is not Music! Hell, that's even the title of the very first song¹.

There is a lot of crap about, but that's always been the way. You just have to stay away from the mainstream crap targeted at teenagers.

Ok, but you're not the one yearning for Bob Dylan in a thread where someone specifically noted that he's just released a new album.

I'm not sick of that because I've mostly avoided it - I think my only recent experience of the latter was stumbling across a parody video once, and it's approaching a year since I've had to put up with other people's mind-numbing choices being forced on me.

One song then it turns into Noise...?

How does it compare to previous Nightwish albums? I haven't actually listened to the albums after Tarja left - not deliberately, just the way things have turned out - so I feel I need to catch up first, but there's a fair number of other artists I'm "behind" on too. :/
