When your wife, while you are discussing what went wrong with your marriage the day before you go to court to file for divorce says "One of the biggest problems was that you spent more time working on your computer than you did working on your marriage".
Cool

All from personal experience...
- You ditched your TV because you can get more reliable news online and download whatever shows you want off a filesharing program. When your friends comment how minimalist your living room looks without an entertainment center you say "Entertainment center? My computer _is_ my entertainment center."
- Modem dies, you have 2 weeks till you get paid. Result? You get to know the old ladies at the library really well.
- "Hey, Tim? What do you know about <insert local place here>?... Oh? Well, where are they located?... Don't know?... Do they have a webpage?.... Well, how the hell am I supposed to find out where they are?.... Phone book? They still have those things around nowadays?"
- *Unreal Tournament* *Alt-tab* *pizzahut.com* *order pizza from store two blocks away* *alt-tab* *fragfest*
That's all I have off the top of my head. :P

When you have more than a few modem's lying around, now used for a just-in-case senario.

...when you're reading a text, wonder what language it could be because there are multiple statements in line and their enclosed by a . instead of ;
... referring to C++ as your native language
...start writing emails like
#ifdef __sanity
you->shutUp();
#endif
...wake up, ssh from the laptop which always is beside you in your bed to your router and turn on the coffee maker with the initMe script
...start talking C in a chat
