Rep: Reputation: 31 don't need to switch the heating on because all the heat from your PC being on so long is keeping your room nice and toasty. can cook a full English breakfast on your heatsinks. don't see the world like other people do, instead you see it in code. are still up at 1 in the morning after thirty-odd hours of no sleep apart from the odd five minute nap, and you're still posting to a 'You know your using the computer too much when...' thread. wear sunglasses, suncream, dark clothing just to leave your office cubicle. (Aagh! Fluorescent lights! It buuurnnnsss!!)

When you've spent the equivelant of two work shifts in reading this thread...

When your brain spits out a "Error 31-Stimulus overload/unable to clear cached engrams"

When you look forward to going to work, so that you can use your own notebook in peace.

When you're a geek wannabe who realizes that he knows just enough geeks speak to confuddle his wife, but still has to go to forums to solve simple problems (I'm guilty/newbie/geek wannabe).

..when you're going to ask for an increase of salary, but just before knocking on the door you quickly 'dd if=/dev/today of=~/backup' - just in case I don't find a savepoint right behind that door..

My 3

Ok, when finally reading all of this (some great laughs here I felt like I had to contribute with something;

....when you want to do a revdep-rebuild on your life...

....when you need to defrag your brain....

....when waking up becomes 'booting'......

When you look at your house, boat and car....and all you think is "emerge -vuND world"

... when you've read so much news online you realize that AP (Associated Propaganda, or as some claim "Press") stories with different authors are actually written by the same person.

You'd think someone at the Ministry of Truth would know the difference between capital and capitol.

Or when you walk in another part of the house to talk to your wife, she asks you sit a few minutes and watch some tv. The tv starts to get a little static and you fly up and run to your puter room to make certain the internet is still up.

I got cable internet and have done this.

.... when you write an entire program in a dream...but can't find why the stupid code won't compile, and you keep hearing a beep thinking that's it's the compiler telling there's an error, while intead it's your alarm clock..
or better yet when you dream about IM chatting with other people.. and even worse when you have a nightmare about IM chatting with people and suddenly being totally unable to type straight no matter how hard you try.
