...when the power company or your ISP only knows there's an outage when they see that you appear offline on all your messaging clients...

Just made these up: Enjoy...

... when you keep checking your e-mail every half-hour.
... when you keep waiting for somebody to respond to your smart reply on a bulletin board
... when you remove one distro and put another one in its place just to check out its features.
... when you use the word flaming and trolling in real life conversations.
... when the only intelligent conversation you can join at parties is along the lines of "what is the speed of Intel's next processor? Will AMD come up with a better?"
... when you get bored you keep opening every file your /etc folder and check out their man pages.
... you find yourself visiting every website that you know and read through their week-old "News" pages for the fifth time.
... when the playlist on your XMMS is repeated for the fifth time at one sitting.
... you reply to e-mails with "Cheers" rather than "Yours Sincerely".
... you make up all kinds of nonsense like this post.

... Forgot to mention: when you reply to your own post like I did just now!

When you catch a glimpse of a PC on TV and can recognise what OS, what version of the OS, what program it's running, etc. and name then all in under ten seconds.

(I do that a lot...)

When you formulate grep and sed expressions to fix coursework. (Been there, done that. And what made it worse was that it was on the dead tree version, that was due in two weeks ago, but I was too busy trying to figure out why a mount command was dying on me.)

Oh, and you have to be up to go to school at 0800H, but you've been working until 0737H.

I spent the rest of the day working in C. /* and adding comments using C style */

Ah, and you spend two weeks using the mount command on windows. And another week removing all the :w and :wq from your notepad files.
