Yay! Dell selling desktops without windows!

And at a much lower price to boot!!!

http://www.dell.com/content/topics/s...=19&l=en&s=dhs

I am SOO getting one of those! No windows for me! This is waaay more powerful than the 699$ deal they have; better video card (I'm sure I can trade it for an Nvidia card if things go wrong) bigger monitor, bigger HDD, better CPU, and best of all, unlike the original N-series, you can buy just one!

^^

Your comments would be wonderful as to whether or not this is a good thing, a pointless thing, something already there, or whatever else.

I saw those whenever I was looking for a new PC. That would be cool if they could sell systems with Linux preinstalled but M$ would do everything to destroy them if they tried something like that.

Preinstalling linux would be complicated, too.

With 13,000 distros, and no one who wants the other to be used exclusively, unless Dell wants to track that many HDD images going around, they'll have two options for the customer: Nothing, or in-house brewed DellOS or something like that. Or even better, Linspire, for all those new PC users who might not have the skill/ressources to install linux for the first time.

They do have Red Hat, but it's business only.

@Numbers: I don't think they'll be doing non-ms laptops. But if you call them and ask them, I'm sure they can uninstall it for you.
