I want to build an entertainment system out of a computer, TV tuner and Linux. That stuff I can figure out for my self. But my cousin asked me an interesting question. He asked if he can hook up the XBOX 360 to it.

Well, can I hook up game consoles to it? I've never bought a TV-Tuner before so I'd like to know before building my entertainment system.

i think you can, if you mean connecting your console's video to your tv tuner.
You then just select it as a channel.

It worked for me,
but my monitor wasn't bright enough ( and clear enough) to play games like they should be played

I was also planing on getting a flat screen HD monitor some where around 27 inches or bigger. Most people when coming in my living room will probably mistake it for a TV. This will all be setup on a regular TV stand. The computer it self will have a microATX desktop case. So it'll look like a high tech DVD player.

I'll also add a sound card so it can be used as a surround sound system. Like I said I plan on building a computer to be used as my whole entertainment system.

The next step is to get a card reader and find a way to have it take the place of my Dish Network box. I'll probably use the spot where the floppy drive goes to put the card reader.

I also plan to build a server so I can copy all my music and movies to. Because the mother board in my entertainment unit will have integrated LAN. I can network every thing together and people can go through a menu for a movie to watch instead of flipping through a butt load of DVDs.

I don't really like XBox. But I do want to get a PS3. I don't know what the cables look like for the PS3 or the PS2 but I want to be able to plug it into the TV Tuner. I don't know what you call the connections on the cables for the current XBox, but because I don't have those connections in my TV I have to plug them into the back of my old VCR. If the PS3 uses those same connections I'm hoping I will be able to plug that into the TV Tuner I plan on buying.

I don't know what kind of connection the monitor I mentioned would have, but I don't need to be able to plug the PS3 into it. I'd rather plug it into the TV Tuner. That way I can record us some times when we play. Which I wont be able to do if I plugged in directly into the monitor.

The yellow one (video) i connectod to my tv-in ,
the red and white one i had an adapter for, so it would come to only 1 connector.
Plugged that into the audio-in.
