Same here, I can get to http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
But when I click on the download button nothing works.

just grab the jre
open a term window and become root:
su
chmod +x j2*.bin
rpm -i j2*.rpm
ln -s /usr/java/j2re1.4.1_02/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
NOW EXIT ROOT by typing "exit"
vi .bash_profile
i
export PATH=/usr/java/j2re1.4.1_02/bin:$PATH
export PATH=/usr/local/Acrobat5/bin:$PATH
export PATH
** hit the esc key in upper left of keyboard **
:wq
exit

I have a vague idea and some other instructions describing this, thanks for the info!
However, for whatever reason the domain: java.sun.com/ times out everytime I try to access it....I was mainly asking if anyone else was having a similiar problem accessing the site...

Yes, it timed out for me too. It seems like you originally posted this thread about two hours ago, so this website has been down for a long time.
