that's not how I read it at all....
I think MS will keep lobbying on all fronts. I hate to be negative, but I see BAD NEWS in the fact that it was so close. The ODF forces will need to keep the campaign going.
i dont know too much about it, but obviously i want a true open solution, that anyone can use. what really annoys me is MS calling their format 'ooxml' 'office open xml' (?) it wouldnt suprise me if they named it that to create confusion with the 'openoffice' program, it seems fishy to me.
when things get transform into a cult like belief ... its time to "normalize" it so that everyone across all levels of a society and to a certain extant --> the world at large , can actually benefit from it ... ^_^
whoever can cost me the cheapest along all the flows of my works ... i will use it ... i dont even need to know who is your boss ...
well to follow things up a bit, a lot of the votes that were for MS, are from countries with high amounts of corruption in the gov. and business sector. in other words MS bought their yes vote.
big surprise there.
this is a problem i do not see any easy way around. MS can continue tossing more and more money to companies and countries until they win a decisive YES vote, and the other companies and countries that refuse to take the money from MS for the votes to change will continue to claim MS is buying a YES vote. in the end is MS gets the yes it will be negated, if MS does not get the yes they will claim unfair practice.
its a nasty way of doing things, but the group is in a bad fix. the only thing we can hope for is more and more publicity and backing of countries that are willing to stand up against the power of MS and US gov.
serious ... ?? ... i think its good to keep them around ... chuck them into one side of the world so that the rest can do their own things without much hindrance ... infact i really see no real disadvantages in having them around ...
//btw ... serious ... ?? as if they are objects for us to pass around ... ^_^
