windows-xp on asus eee won't boot.


hi, a friend of mine has a asus eee netbook (no dvd drive) and basically has the same problem as this:

when she turns on her computer it shows the win-xp splash screen then goes to a blue-screen-of-death then automatically reboots (wash, rinse, repeat).

how to get a netbook that wont boot to run chkdsk.exe ?

I believe chkdsk is on the Ultimate Boot CD which you should be able to download and put on a usb stick. Googling that should give you a number of sites like the one below:

thanks, seems like i gotta' make a bootable usb based on the windows cd (that did not come with the pc). maybe i can make it from the hidden recovery partition -- but of course the pc wont boot.
