Windows Safe mode

I have win98se and Mandrake running on same system. My question is how do I get in to Windows safe mode? I tried pressing F5, but it still boots in to lilo. I searched on google and only thing I found was a sudgestion of pressing F8 while selecting windows. That didn't work.
Any Ideas?
Thx.

you need to select windows in lilo, then after that you hit F8, a lot... It's always a PITA, so I edit the msdos.sys file (in linux) and add the BootMenu=1 option so it always shows the boot menu and safe mode options, etc. You have to change the read/write stuff on msdos.sys before you can edit it sometimes...

When you have selected Windows and lilo has closed, then hit F5.

For Win Xp I know it's F8 so shouldn't it be the same thing for previous versions?

For me right from the Grub boot loader I can pick safe mode if I pick windows 3 I dunno sorry

F5 in Grub

You can boot from Grub into WinXP safe mode by pressing F5 after selecting Windows XP (which might be called MS-DOS). I think this should work for any NT-based win.
