windows login to smb pdc with ldap error
 

Hi

I have configured a smb ldap pdc on redhat es3 update 7 and using samba-tools that comes with redhat.

I can create users go in to shares and give memberships to windows and linux machines.

But when I try to login in to the domain the machine restarts after entering the username and password.

and I get this error in ldap log file

[2006/06/08 10:18:48, 0] lib/util_sock.c:read_socket_data(384)
read_socket_data: recv failure for 4. Error = Connection timed out

I am using Samba-3 by Example by John H. Terpstra and the chapter Making Happy Users as my reference.

Well, I'm not that familiar with samba, but PDCs and BDCs are legacy NT authentication servers and they do not use AD (Active Directory, which is Microsoft's proprietized version of LDAP.) AD/LDAP is used by Windows 2000 and 2003 only, and all domain controllers are now equal, so no more PDCs or BDCs, they're all just DCs.

Anyway, looks to me like you're using old info and that might be part of the problem. Wish I could help you more...

hi Crito I am not sure where I am going wrong. all the accounts creation go as it should be. Only at the login to the newely created domain the windows mation reboots, does it hav any thing to do with the login profile
