Windows connection sharing, problem with msn

I'm helping my friend set up a network, at the moment it is set up like this

usb modem ----> main windows pc ----> wireless router ---> other pcs

The main pc has internet connection sharing enabled and is connected to the internet port of the router so the rest of the network can use its built in firewall. The other pc's are all running windows and are set to detect network settings automatically, the router assigns ip addresses to them and masks them from the main pc (I'm not sure if this is good).

This set up works for most sites, however and hotmail will only load on the main pc, all other pc's get no response when accessing these sites. Also msn messenger can only connect from the main pc, it hangs on all the other pc's when connecting. Does anyone know tif there are any extra security features on these sites that I should know about when setting up the router? Or have I got the set up completely wrong?
