wind 10...out the window...!

Windows 10 has lots issues...!

So after playing around until 2am one night going back and forth between pcs...Realtek 8187rtl worked for first few weeks until desktop winds 10 started updating on new install.
I put another wireless adapter via usb and it worked just fine! Anyone have issues with rtl8187 in wind 10...?

For editing, streaming online, gaming, what do some of you prefer over wind 10?

Thanks

Of course windows is trash. Why do you think we're here on LINUXquestions?:)

What are you running windows on? From the sound of you, you're just booting windows??
You're newish here, so I'll spare you my outspoken thoughts.

Interesting to hear that Windows users are having troubles with Realtek Wifi, too!

Ok, learn windows while you're there. Be aware that you'll be forgetting what you're learning now when/if you move over to linux.

If I turn off the WiFi, my Realtek rtl8192cu will go to sleep and never wake up. This happens on Linux. The workaround is to keep the WiFi always on or always off.

another issue when playing music using bluetooth dongle is, I think my bluetooth keyboard keeps disconnecting and connecting...Reason I think it is keyboard is that when I use it with laptop same bluetooth dongle it does the same thing and I can hear the loud sound of the connect /disconnect through the external bluetooth speakers!

As far as learning both...up for the challenge. HP Laptop had windows 7 pro, 32 bit before I put deepin 15.11, 64bit which also may change to different distro in future!
New to wind 10 os on Desktop!...going to be very short lived...I want to make sure all the components(some usb ports not showing device but hear the sound when plug in) are working and have all I need before I wipe windows 10 out the window! Arrggg!

Thanks for the responses! Welcome any suggestions from the pros here!

Thanks for that...I haven't added the realtek to Linux yet, using the internal wifi to connect for now...it's on the list.

They seem to have a problem with coders… for a good while they were having modules on their website which you downloaded and compiled with 'make -C' ='change to kernel dir & make this.' This was presumably because they couldn't get code into the kernel. Now they have modules there. If they'd stop building new chips and get code behind the ones they have, everyone would be happier.

What's the 4/1Kali.vdi cmd to: do EVERYthing automagically, withOUT my {DO,search, read, etc}ing ANYthing?

IF you've got M$WinB10ws running,
grab (download) VirtualBox.org (an easy & safe install)
and run Linux DistroS in/on it!!!

Relegate M$ to just a pile of drivers!!!

Also, OSboxes.org has preinstalled, ready-to-run .vdi (once un7zipped)

It's probably supported these days. From my recent spate of building kernels. I can tell you the rtl8192cu is a sub-option of the rtlwifi module. If you have a distro kernel, they probably enabled all of them.

I'm liking that idea for desktop:hattip:, less work is better. But still need to be able to do some editing! I use desktop to play music everyday just about! Not so much gaming!

What linux distro would be best on desktop? or what most would prefer!

After reading on ubuntu/Debian...Debian is the winner winner chicken dinner!

And I just removed lots of apps that come with wind 10 in powershell...After researching and what a difference!
The fans stopped racing after restart. Get everything working best I can and then go from there. :study:
