Win95-Vista compatibility

I have some software for Win95, is it compatible with Vista? I assume it isn't but I wanted to know anyway. I don't have Vista, so I can't check it myself...

It may be helpful to let us know exactly what software you're asking about.

My mom has "My House" by Designware. I don't know much about it, she just wants to know if it will work...

It will probably work... I expect so. I have a program 'midisoft studio 4.0' from 1995 and it still works on Windows 2000 and XP.

run it in compatibility mode. Right click shortcut>>compatibility>>windows 95|800*600|256 colors.

I've ran Office 97 on the Vista beta and it worked.

Win95 was 16-bit DOS trying to be 32-bit Windows. It was pretty successful at it.

Windows-XP variants (including Vista) are native 32-bit systems which have a so-called "WOW" (Windows On Windows) virtual-machine to support 16-bit apps. If that application is 16-bit, support for it could be dicey. If on the other hand it is 32-bit, it ought (knock, knock!) to be smooth sailing.

If any problems, try similar to what St Jimmy suggested:
Right click on .exe file --> Properties --> Compatibility --> tick the check-box, set to 'Windows 95', then click OK.
Never had to try it, and don't know if it's the same on Vista.
