Why not building and opening more hospitals?

Hi,

It is about 2 years and we have not seen any changes in the infrastructure.
Hopital and medicine infrastructure remains unchanged today.

(Covid, regular, many vaccinations for each of us,...)

Why not building and opening more hospitals?

This question has not been given and replied yet.

Regards

Money, time, & the will to do it, all lacking from our politicians, whatever country you're in, it's the same.

Not only does it take time and money to build the hospital (and more money to maintain it), but there is also the costs of staffing it and the considerable time lag between looking to recruit more medical students and finally producing qualified doctors that can act on their own.

This reminded me of an episode of Yes Minister. Hacker (the Minister) has just been to visit a new hospital with 500 ancillary staff, but no doctors and nurses and thus no patients: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAk448volww.

In the UK, the Health Service has been short of staff for years. You can't just conjure nurses out of the ground. Also I believe our modern nurses are overqualified. They have to have degrees now. When I was young, a nurse got most of her training on the job.

I suspect you speak about the US of NA?

Because what you say does not hold true for all of us.
Not even all of the English speaking world.

Though I do agree that most countries could do more in the social sector, esp. paying people adequately.

Opening a hospital doesn’t just take time, money and people. It also takes land.
