We won't know for some time, I think, just what the box-office figures were. (Will we?) "Rogue One" basically bombed at the box, given the very-high expectations that Disney had for it.
The inevitable television show will be interesting. Maybe it will feature Ewoks singing the Mickey Mouse Club anthem ... ;) |
Apparently the writer and director of The Last Jedi, is to write a new trilogy (of spin offs)...

" Just tell me a really good yarn. But, don't tamper with fictional characters. It's far better to simply omit them entirely, than to corrupt them. Especially when the franchise does not need to do any such thing." => Too much Capitalism corrupts intangibles like Quality (of many things -- Science, work values, character, i.e) for one -- so is it a wonder this has occurred? -- another irrelevant old fart |

We should be careful - someone at Disney WILL take it as a serious suggestion... |

There were two ewok TV movies and a TV series (cartoon) in the early 80s...
The "franchise" was getting underway early in Lucasfilm's time, with toys and merchandising selling off the shelves. Episode 6 had "monsters" galore, compared to the two previous films. Again this fuelled toy sales. Personally I think Star Wars ran out of steam after Episode 5. 6/ROTJ pretty much began the sequel/reboot thing in that you once again had a death star which once again had to be destroyed and there was of course a weakness which had to attacked by a smaller craft flying inside and shooting at it... |
I don't support Hollyvoood and haven't been to a theater to see a movie in over 10 years. Or network TV for that matter.
Not that I don't watch a lot of movies... |

I thought that Lucas was being "true to form" by repeating certain tropes, such as, "the Empire has terrible luck designing battle stations." :) Just like a spaghetti Western, you walked into the theater knowing basically what the plot was going to be. Again. |
