Why does this forum wind down over the weekend?

Just curious. I've noticed that on a weekday, the posts come fast and furious but at the weekend, there is much less activity. Intuitively, I would have expected the reverse, because most people would be at work during weekdays, so they should have better things to do than surf forums.

I've noticed that as well. I imagine it's because a lot of the users work with computers during the week, switching a tab in the browser doesn't take long....

In my experience, this is only true during the summer.
Assuming that most people live in the northern hemisphere, I think it's easily understandable.
In darker & colder times, I noticed that most posts seem to be coming in on Monday; I assume that's because of time differences between America and Europe, and many Americans posting on Sunday evening.

I've always thought that it was likely because, on weekends, people are out there doing weekend stuff--going to movies, meeting family obligations, going to their children's sports events, maybe going for long walks on the beach . . . .

I used to spend my summer weekends, at least every other summer weekend, boating on the Chesapeake (nothing fancy--just an open runabout--but it was a heck of a lot of fun).

Working people have the time through the week, be it theirs or their bosses, whilst weekends tend to be taken up by other family members, or sports/hobbies.

I used to be out cycling at the weekends, often 100 miles plus, & didn't have much time when I got back home for much more than eating/drinking, then to bed.

Being retired, & being less fit, unfortunately, gives me more time to go online nowadays.

I'm active on my forums Monday through Friday and sometimes on the weekend, unless I have plans with friends and family. Like others have said, the slowdown is likely because people -- mostly in the northern hemisphere -- are on summer break.

On during the week at work, occasionally reply to threads I'm already watching some evenings, weekends are for photography and chilling, not forums! I hardly even visit my own forum over the weekend. :)

I just noticed it again - Monday morning, not so much.

because once I've left work on Friday, I don't touch a keyboard until Monday morning.

At all the desk jobs I've had in my life, I've had ample time to browse the internet, sometimes for hours on end. I imagine the same is true of many others during the week. People then go and do stuff with their friends and families on the weekends.

Some companies 'lock down' their internet so one can only browse a small amount of work-related sites. Others don't lock the net down but have a 'no browsing' rule. Others have a free-for-all within reason, and that's been the case at my workplaces most of the time. I personally think it's the best way, I don't see the harm in employees browsing the web as long as it doesn't effect their work. It's best to treat them like responsible adults.
