‘Fresh air's’ Dave Davies interviewed the ‘New York Times's’ Annie Karni and Luke Broadwater:
Quote:
Karni: Famously, like anything that starts in the evening in Congress, many people are drunk. There is like something called the drunk caucus that other members referred to. Leadership is always wary of scheduling votes at night because drinking is a problem.
Davies: Sorry to interrupt, but I read this in the book and I was astonished to read this.
Karni: Yes, it's among people who work in the Capitol and reporters. It's like not a revelation. Everyone just knows this, but it is a revelation to most people who don't.

Exciting news about my shoes - I glued together a big rip in my shoe leather edge-to-edge with superglue, held it in place with masking tape and left it overnight to fully set. The next day I went for a long hike in them, including walking through wet overgrown grass. I thought it would be certain that the glue would have come apart, but when I took them off it was still all perfectly stuck together! So for a 20p tube of superglue I have extended the life of my most comfortable shoes for a few more months until the soles wear out.
Hats off to the chemists!
Does the presence of this thread mean I can make sarcastic comments about the UK's economic management?

I suspect that would count as political. But the rest of your post would do better in the thread about the right to repair.

Why not? Everyone else does!
(Except in the USA, here only half of the people have an idea what or where the UK is. Our education system used to be better.)

As stated above, No political is allowed in <General>. If you violate this rule then expect an infraction for such violation(s). Thread content is to be without political communication at all. You are warned!

Hmmm. I was not thinking of the management of the economy as political, as much of it is in the hands of the business community rather than any level of government. We have previously discussed political issues related, but also social issues and economic factors outside of politics. I guess if we want to continue discussion here we have to be VERY specific about the nature of the factors we mention, and how it relates (and does not relate) to politics. That sounds difficult and makes posting a lot more work, but I also do not want to break the rules, even if they have changed. (Changed in a way I do approve, but the way. Things were getting kinda crazy!)
