not only with scripts.
it's a regular trolling ground.
a forum in its death throes. undead, really. a zombie forum.
I haven't been back there for a long time. But if what you say is true, I think it's very sad because it was once a lovely forum. There was a really good community there. Only they didn't own the site and I got the impression that the people who owned it didn't care about maintaining it. What do we have to do to stop the same thing happening here?

Personally, I don't think there's much (if any) danger of that happening here. As personally I think this forum is VERY well maintained, both in terms of the mod's (and Jeremy/Admin's) and the vast majority of members of LQ.
While I haven't been a member of a lot of other forums, I think all in all, this forum is probably the best one out.
I missed using an active Linux forum since LinuxnewbieJustLinux became Tumbleweed Central, and noticed that a lot of my web searches led me here, and more to the point, most of the searches that led me here ended here. It looked like a good forum, and I stayed because it is.
Incidentally, JL first started to decline when the owner sold it to a dotcompany that also hired, then fired, him and did nothing with the site for years. Eventually said company did a revamp and started maintaining it, but they also deleted the off topic forum, altering the mood of the site, and ramped up the advertising. A lot of the community still soldiered on after that, but somewhere along the line it lost critical mass. So I suspect one key to keeping this site running is for Jeremy to keep control for evermore - or be very careful who he hands it on to.
I was searching for answers on the web and many solutions or similar questions were found on LQ.
I joined because I did like the manners of this site.
It officially was my first internet group of any span of time beyond a day or so.
I date back to the 70's with computing and have experienced the BBS's and such where you got slammed just sometimes for saying hello. People knowing these times also know that it was dial up and so once they slammed you, it also was accompanied with "CONNECTION TERMINATED". It was like a private party where any new person needed to be teased or downright insulted, and only if they maybe stood up for their self adamantly enough, would they be accepted. Well, .... I never really knew the answer there, because as I say, I only lasted a post or two on most forum.
I think my Stack Overflow reputation is still negative. I asked a question, did search a bit for it, they marked me as a duplicate, someone asked me for follow-up and I found I could not reply because I was voted negative. "Nice!"
I joined LQ because the news groups were getting too loose and vulgar.
Too much in fighting between user within the Slackware group. I found LQ and notice the good manners and helpful attitudes from forum members so I joined. Sure there have been some interesting threads but most times good informational exchanges between members.
Overall most members are very willing to help fellow members to a solution or provide links to helpful information. I have continued to be an active member over the years. I always seem to find jewels of treasure within LQ daily.

Geez, that's pretty rough, I'll bet your glad you said good bye to them... well I would be anyway's. Looks like your far better off here!
I joined to get help with Linux and to try to give some help. Even if I currently don't use Linux as much as I used to for work reasons, I still hang around, ask occassional questions and try to participate sometimes... And the General forum is quite fun.

I too come from the BBS days and run my own Board but I don't remember people getting cut down for asking a question. And during the BBS days the you normally connected to the NODE to get the news feeds so there was no disconnecting if someone didn't like you as they didn't have the power to do that only your NODE could do that. Now if you connected to someone else and they didn't like you then they could disconnect you but for the most part you could only connected to your NODE for News and Mail.
