Who turned out the lights?!

http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/08/14/pow...age/index.html

Power outages are cool, 'cause you can just go screaming through an intersection since you don't have any red lights!

Or you can go running down the subway tracks cause no subways will be there. nor will there be any lights.... Power outages are the perfect time to hijack your neighboors cable, cause they can't tell. Other fun things to do:
steal neighboors power
steal neighboors internet connection
sneak into your friends house and flip the circuit breaker off. they'll never know till night when the power comes on.....

Only problem with induction: it takes large amounts of wire to create it. Oh well... If you live under high voltage power lines, you can always use neon lights and florescent (no, i'm not stupid, just bad at spelling) lights because they work off of voltage, not current. You can also broadcast your pirate radio station, of course noone can hear it.......

In case you haven't been keeping up, here's a recap of what's happening. I am paraphrasing a little from the ABC coverage:
-----
Ok, here in NY we don't have power and we don't know when it'll be back. Let's go to Cleveland. Well, we don't have power here and we don't know when it will be back. Back to you in NY. Ok, just to recap we don't have power and we don't know when it will be back. Look at all those people walking. Ok, let's go to Toronoto, OK, here in Toronto we don't have power and we don't know when it will be back. Back to you in NY. OK, just to recap there's a power outage and we dont' have power and we don't know when it will be back. Let's get a report from the street. Well, here on the street we have lots of people, but we still don't have power and we don't know when it will be back. Back to the studio. Let's talk to the experts. Ok, Joe, what's up? Well, Ted, we know that the grid is out and we don't have power and we don't know when it will be back up? Ok, thanks for that report. We'll take a brief break and we'll be right back with continuing coverage of this power outage.

Awwww....the power is back on, for some. If only it lasted longer than a week. No generators could last that long....no anoying news, although the internet would probally be a bit slow.. And it was just getting dark. How can people stand watching news for sooo long? "Wow, it's still dark. Let's watch the dark some more.....Yup......Still dark...Let's talk with some random hobo from the street."

WOW

itsjustme hit the nail right on the head!

I'm so freakin tired of the media blowing stuff W A Y out of proportion.

We know the damn power is out. I don't need scrolling stuff across the bottom of half my cable chanels. Nor do I need coverage of the power outage on 6 news stations.

What a bunch of worthless morons manning those stations

I am about ready to through my TV out the window.

Better yet....get a TIVO and record only what I wanna see and throw out all the commercials and news

Yeah.......that's it.........that's the ticket...

actually, in such a situation, the intersection becomes a 4-way stop. so you'd have a better chance at screaming through when the lights are working....because on no lights you have to stop 100% of the time.
