Where do I start with an ubuntu question?

I'm working for the Common Ground Collective in New Orleans. We have a computer center up and running, and for some reason all the computers are running Ubuntu, except for one or two Windows machines. It hasn't been at all difficult to network the various printers onto the Windows machines but I and others can't figure out how to do it with Ubuntu. The machines are semi useless without printer use, where in this forum can I start asking questions, and where on the web can I start doing research?

**the "help" option in ubuntu hasn't yielded anything of value. I suspect I don't know the system well enough and therefore don't know what the right questions might be.**

help appreciated, thanks.

There is some good documentation here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/

I think the best place to start looking for solutions to problems is google.com

You can ask your question in one of the approproiate forums. Decide what your question is, then read the descriptions for each of the forums and decide where you think your question is most appropriate. Problem with a piece of hardware: Linux - Hardware; problems configuring a bit of software: Linux - General; problem with some ubuntu specific thing: Distributions - Ubuntu or maybe the official ubuntu forums: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/

Honestly, this forum will yield little help for Ubuntu.
Head over to the Ubuntu Forums:

The official site is hard to beat for ubuntu specific information. If I was to use a distro strictly for user forums and wiki it would be ubuntu or gentoo. For general linux information LQ is the place to be.
