For a fee ms coninues to support Xp for those corporations who need it, and the U.S. Navy, BTW. Hard to believe the Navy would be dumb enough to use ms products for mission critial applications, but they do.

Interesting.

I know Macy's still uses Windows.

I think more businesses would adopt Linux if their weren't so many versions and if their was paid support.

Isn't RHEL paid support?

One way would be at restaurants where many take your card to the back.

Simple matter of copying the number down and making a counterfeit card.

Getting a pin number would be more difficult in the case of a debit card.

Going to a six or 8 digit pin number PLUS requiring it for both debit and credit card purchases would make fraud practically impossible except for bozos who use 12345678 as their pin number. :-)
In my case it was something I ordered on-line, a large merchant, not something fly-by-night or a case where they outsourced their sales through other sites. Seems a good guess that it possibly happened there, or somehow was intercepted as I did the order. This was my bank debit card so I went to a branch to get a new one and I commented that it was potentially identifiable. The teller confirmed that it'd be an exercise in futility to try and run that up the flagpole. Basically Visa does their own investigation, they don't share outwards what their findings are, probably because they wish to protect their associations with merchants. As he said, "we little guys will never know."
