Then who's going to visit www.linuxquestions.org if everyone just icq's
They lose traffic, inturn lose sponsers, then eventually they'll go out of business all because you wanted some icq numbers.
If i were you i'll think long and hard before asking that again.

I've got 1

Actually, I've never "ICQ" 'd mainly because I cannot see the use of a number system like that. The IM or IRC system, IMHO, is an easier, more user friendly, understandable system.

Cool

I think the number system is ok, and I prefer it far over the microsoft messenger-way ... though I agree on the IRC system being a bit better

I use to have an AIM account in which I published here, but it got to the point where too many started asking questions at one point, while I was at work and so on. I find it sort of an annoyance really. I only use MSN now at work cause they require it to talk internally. And I've only given that out to a handful of people outside of work I know won't be asking me questions throughout the whole day and such.
I mean I like to answer questions, but let me do it when I want to without interruptions.

But I have to agree, you shouldn't use ICQ or any other Instant Messenger to ask others questions when you have a problem. If you desperately need help, go to a IRC chatroom where peeps are standing by in specific rooms to answer others questions and such...

I liked ICQ for around 10 minutes - then I got sick of the hairy men pretending to be 18 year old cheerleaders and offering me sex.

So I uninstalled it and breathed a sigh of relief - all my unwanted sh*it goes to Hotmail now. See Bill Gates does provide a much needed service!
