What will Windows 7 Technical Support Cost?

After seeing everyone rush to sign up for discounted Windows 7 prices it occurred to me that I haven't seen anything about what technical support is included (if any) and what support will cost for Windows 7. I know that Microsoft raised support prices after releasing Vista.

If anyone can find some Microsoft statements about the support included with Windows 7 upgrade and retail versions please post some links. I'm wondering what people will do if they upgrade from XP to Windows 7 and encounter problems. Microsoft technical support is expensive and computer manufacturers are not going to provide support for Windows 7 unless they sold it.

I've noticed that the mainstream media has conveniently overlooked this question and I know from experience with Windows 2000 that unexpected problems can cost a lot in support fees.

That's a very valid point. I've been quite sceptical about jumping on to the "pre-paY" deal with them. No enough details for me.

Upgrade from XP? I thought there was no direct upgrade path from XP?

Anyway, MS has a huge profit margin but it's still unlikely they are going to let go just like that. Increased service costs could be one of their ways to make up for lower purchase costs. Not that it matters. I don't know that many home users who will actually pay to get support.
