What is your PC monitor?

Mine is Samsung 19" LCD, 2.5 years old, resolution 1440x900
I plan to buy a LED back lit monitor 23",
how about you?

Samsung SyncMaster 226BW (22") at work and a Hyundai something-or-other (19") at home. The Hyundai is nothing special, and it shows when I plug my MacBook in to it. The Samsung is very nice though.

Samsung BX2431 (24" - 1920x1080) - Great piece of hardware, I've got nothing but good things to say about it.
Apple A1082 (23" - 1920x1200) - "Old" (2005), but even now a very nice monitor. Used as 2nd display.

No need for anything new at the moment, if my Apple display would fail any time soon I will buy a second BX2431.

TigerLinux 01-17-2011 07:46 AM

Samsung BX2431 is fantastic, how much you bought?

pwc101 01-17-2011 07:50 AM

I think it depends on your definition of LED: http://www.samsung.com/us/business/m.../LS24X3HKFH/ZA

Most monitors out there at the moment that are LED are in fact LED backlit. True LED displays are very expensive for the time being.

edit: OK, TigerLinux edited their response (formerly "Samsung BX2431 is not LED monitor"), so mine makes no sense now. Ho hum.

That is definitely true, and worth mentioning!

what is the most important spec for monitor?
response time?
resolution?

---------- Post added 01-17-11 at 01:59 PM ----------

nowadays good monitor has HDMI input, so your graphic card should also have HDMI output

That depends.

For example: If you do a lot of gaming, multimedia editing and viewing response time is important (5 ms, preferably less). If your budget gives you the choice between a 1440x900 2ms or 1920x1080 5ms I would go for the 2ms version.

If, on the other hand, you don't do games and/or a lot of multimedia, resolution would come first in my book.

24" monitor is great, the price is 30% more than 23", so for budget buyer, goes for 23".

Teac 2005L12 20in (rebranded KTC2002) 1680x1050 - bought 4 years ago, color accuracy not the best but ok, has slight damage from falling face down on the keyboard

Unnamed 24in LCD panel without case 1366x768 - from a broken tv i found in trash (it has a cluster of bad px and awful color inaccuracy but still good as second display)

Both my monitors are ancient. One is a Sony Trinitron Multiscan 100ES - a CRT running at 1280x960, that someone gave me. The other is a HP 1502, an LCD with 1024x768 resolution, that was £50 second-hand about five years ago. But having them both together is nice, and means I don't really feel the need to get a new monitor; I'll spend the money on other upgrades, or partying.
