Well I'm selling it to my father. Yes I know it sounds weird, but I want a dual core processor and up2date videocard and stuff
The installation CD is mine, so If I include it, that's about 300€, correct?
Depends on the buyer and their needs. One person might pay a higher amount than the other. Computers in most cases have really poor resell value, their like cars, the older and more used they are, less you'll get for them.
And in most cases, usually computers are worth more when broken down. Most don't buy custom self built computers, but they'll buy a part or two they may have a need for.
If I were to buy this computer, I'd offer no more than probably $150 for it in U.S. currency that is..
150-250 seems fair, no more than 300(American). OpenSuse isnt' really a selling point, because its free to anyone with the patience to download it.
If he doesn't have the windows disks, I'd make a big deal about it just to get it cheaper, then I'd just format it and install Linux, but not Suse, anyways..
I think it depends on where you live. In the Netherlands I've seen second hand systems for sale with 256MB RAM, 3.0Ghz PIV, 40GB HDD, onboard VGA and 15" TFT monitor for around €400 (without a warranty). Maybe you should check stores/websites where second hand computers are offered for sale, to see if you can find systems with comparable specifications. That should give you a better starting point for determining what constitutes a reasonable asking price in your prefecture.
I hope that helps.
You have a computer with all sub $100 components. It'll sell terribly as a whole computer. As IndyGunFreak said, you might get 300$(american) for everything, so I'd follow trickykids suggestion.
This reminds me of a runnng joke we have here in Paraguay about the cheap chinese motorcycles that are being imported. THey say if you fill the tank with gas, you double it's worth.
I know, nothing to do with Linux or computers.
I'd suggest that the best way to determine what the PC is worth is to check what similar PC's are selling for. In other words, go to a site like www.ebay.com and search for computers that more or less are similar to yours.
As trickykid mentioned, PC's lose value extremely quickly, and after a few years their resale value approaches zero
what people are saying down here is that just give away for free without any returns whenever you can(probably bundled with things that its important but you do it for free) and dont re-sell anything because you dont really need to do that , right ??
