What is RSS

Hi all,

These days I've been noticing sites going like "We support RSS Feeds"
What are these and what difference do they make to the operation of a site?

an rss is a feed that provieds titles for recent news and links. htey are for your desktop, not for the browser.

you can get an rss reader and it scrolls the news from the rss feed of a rss site for you. if you use kde, you can either use the air_rss karamba theme at kde-look.org, or you can use a kicker applet included with kde that streams a bunch of rss's. both can be customized to use the feeds you watn

Edit: and if you look at the bottom of this page, there are a bunch of threads about linux rss readers to choose from.
