Wow! I must say, Lysander, I am continually impressed by the width and scope of your music tastes. I thought I was one of a very few who could embrace both Buckethead and Radiohead, and I still think that : ^ ) Kudos, Brother.

Some of us have very eclectic music tastes: mine run from death/black metal to EDM, classical, jazz and blues. The ONLY genre of music I don't like is rap or hip hop, or whatever it's called these days. It's the only form of music that actually makes me mad and causes a flight or flight response when I hear it. Odd, yes but music is a very personal thing.

Little trick I use is subscribing to this channel

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCG7...iG6pq_rRDNw72A

Cuz I like stuff by Space Lord < Mutha Mutha > and other groups they sign on to their label.

Edit: It also helps finding stuff like this

Thanks enorbet, I only mention a small amount of it here. Variety is important in life, especially when it comes to music.

The Smiths - Bigmouth Strikes Again
Morrissey was an incredible blockhead (probably still is), but also a genius.
And the band... finer there wasn't.

Covered by Placebo, if I remember correctly. Such a big band in the '90s. Whatever the hell happened to them.

still touring apparently. One of those summer festival bands you always find in the midsection of the lineup.

Amougies 1969 : le Woodstock franco-belge oublié
Amougies 1969 - The forgotten Franco-Belgian Woodstock

France Culture, yesterday evening. I cannot give you the URL of the page, as with the replay-option of these radio stations, you sell yourself to doubleclick, Google, F*c*book, outbrain, abtasty and a dozen other Internet criminals.

Here is the URL of the mp3, instead:
https://media.radiofrance-podcast.ne...22089189-0.mp3

Playlist:
East of Eden : Gum arabic / Confucius, album Snafu (1970) - fond sonore -
Colosseum : Valentyne suite, album Valentyne suite (1969)
Wallace Collection : Daydream, album Laughing Cavalier (1969) - fond sonore -
Ten Years After : Good morning little schoolgirl, album Ssssh (1969)

Pink Floyd : Careful with that axe Eugene, en concert à Amsterdam en août 69 et publié sur la compilation The early years : 1969 Dramatis/Ation / Vol. 3 (2017) - fond sonore -
Captain Beefheart and the Magic band : She’s too much for my mirror, enregistré à Amougies et publié sur An anthology of noise and electronic music / Vol 2 (Sub Rosa, 2003)
Alan Jack Civilization : Baby don't you come back home, extrait de l'album Shame on you (1969) - fond sonore -
Pink Floyd : Interstellar overdrive, en concert à Amsterdam en août 69 et publié dans la compilation The early years... (déjà citée)

Caravan : Where but for caravan would I, extrait de l'album Caravan (1968)
Archie Shepp : Howling in the silence, extrait de l'album The lowlands (1969)
The Nice : She belongs to me, en public au Fillmore East de New York City en avril 1969 et publié sur l'album Nice (1969)

Soft Machine : Instant pussy, édité sur la compilation BBC radio 1967-1971

You understand enough of the French, here. Believe me.

I suppose much of my surprise and appreciation comes from my assumption that you are decades, maybe many decades, younger than I am and I've witnessed a longterm trend toward specific, smaller and tighter niches in music appreciation. There was a time when the same radio stations that played Donovan and Joni Mitchell also played played Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. Since then I've met more than a few Metal heads that swear "If it ain't Metal, it ain't Music. It's more like wuss whining" It's good to see appreciation of diversity and the creativity that can cause is resistant to The Mainstream.
