Alphaxone & Xerxes the Dark - Aftermath

The best dark ambient album I've heard in recent memory.

Yes, his music is quite original and his first albums are very authentic and avant-garde for the times he released them. However, I didn't like the "Year Zero" and "The Slip" period a lot (maybe a few songs from these albums). "Hesitation Marks" though is very good; I really like its mix of styles.

Hey Michael Uplawski,

Did you discover Liz Meyer when she moved to EU? She played a lot around Washington DC early on and the first time I saw her was also my first time to see The Humbler, Danny Gatton, play live. I later became something of a friend to Danny and my ex wife was in touch with Liz right up until Liz died way too soon. Danny went out the hard way... still breaks me up. A fond memory though was a show shared by Liz and EmmyLou Harris. They tore the place up when they launched into Jambalaya. If someone recorded it I surely would love to find it.

Hi enorbe_t.
(I will always tend to write something with Norbert as that is a German first name... Sorry).

How can I variate a story that I have already cut in episodes for this very thread..?!
There has been Liz Meyer and “The Bardentreffen”... but I will resume.

Living in Nuremberg for some years I have discovered quite a few things, listening to musicians on the street and during the free open air concerts which are organized each year. I saw live: Liz Meyer, Taj Mahal, Mike Silver, Peter Sarstedt, many European musicians with diverse Folk-backgrounds, Scandinavian, Finnish, some Klezmer.., Anne Wylie or Cara Dillon (I really don't remember), The Buena Vista Social Club, Joan Armatrading.

Doing my shopping on a Friday, just before the opening of the Bardentreffen I passed the stage during the sound check of Liz Meyer and Mark Cosgrove (a 5 minutes walk from my apartment). So I just sat down and stayed for the whole show. That is how I discovered Liz Meyer.
Later she gave a concert in a small village north of Nuremberg with a bluegrass band from Berlin where I even exchanged some words with her.

She was the kind of artist that I would expect to just retire from scene some day to do something else for a living, write books or become an activist of arbitrary kind or grow vegetables... I would have said: just a normal woman who happened to like her accordion, have a great voice and happy to do stuff with others.
