Rammstein - Ich Will

I have no idea what they are saying in English, but I still like the song anyway...

I don't know the lyrics in complete, but "Ich will" in English is: I want!

They are currently under big pressure being criticized and hated in Germany due to their new song and the video "Deutschland".

These guys definitely do have courage and character!

that song is nothing like what i commented on up there.
i guess i was intrigued about the interpretation of the song, not its history (or whatever you're refering to).

OK. I was focusing on shiver worthy solos, both vocal and instrumental, in Slow Blues. I guess I missed your point until you made it clearer but it was simply 'in the same vein" not a comment on anything you said other than "the shivers" with which I agree are or can be especially moving in Slow Blues, IMHO the most difficult music to play well.

In the same vein, but.., honestly. Better than both. (shoot at will

(When I had single coils and humbuckers to choose from, I did never know what to do)

tbh i didn't give that song a full chance; listened to it again, i guess you're refering to the numerous lengthy guitar solos.

unlike other topics, i'd say that in matters of taste, there can be no disputes...

at least you seem to understand that "gives me shivers" means high praise.

Well that's part of it. Due to my background as a touring guitar player/front man in a Roots band, I do appreciate "stretching out" with lyrical playing but also something about Slow Blues just strikes some resonance in me. The combination of what in the surface seems contradictory, both boldness and vulnerability combined inside a kind of dream state feeling just grabs me somehow.

I consider the above very astute. It cracks me up when it doesn't make me upset that people continually try to post any kind of Art or artist as "Best Ever" when it is so obviously apples and oranges. Then it makes me chuckle when I find my own views slipping toward that ingrained fallacy. Thankfully I return to my senses and recover pretty quickly.

Absolutely! It's a bit odd but as captivated as I am by Math and Science I must admit that I consider Music to be among if not possibly the greatest creative effort Mankind has ever devised. It certainly has been one of the most powerful forces in my life.

Stormy Monday is also shares in seeming contradiction for me. At a live concert for local aspiring bands held outdoors in a park, Stormy Monday was the first live performance I ever witnessed that I knew was Slow Blues. I'd heard Blues and R&B for many years but I didn't know it was called that. That performance just mysteriously sucked me in and that feeling and association has never left. Later as I began to devour every Blues recording and performance I could manage, I slipped away from Stormy Monday and sdtarted to view it like performing musicains view the most trivial Pop Music Standards, like "Proud Mary", "Smoke on the Water" and "Freebird" We grow to hate them because it is guaranteed that someone at every show will shout it out as a request, often repeatedly to the point of severe annoyance, sort of how I imagine Van Gogh would respond to someone asking him to Paint By Numbers.

So I have a Love/Hate relationship with "Stormy Monday" and all this is something of an apology, to my jaded youth, to T-Bone Walker (who wrote the song) and to all here who have probably heard one of my favorite tour de force versions .... (hint - Even if so, It's definitely worth a revisit)
