Awesome, thanks for the link! While listening, there was another youtube video on the right for Gary Moore, who was also a great blues guitarist.

Traveler - s/t

This has been making something of a sensation in the 2019 metal scene - old school '80s heavy metal, very well done.

I think this is one of the all time blues/rock tunes around...better then Cream's version, IMO!

Thank you, FredGSanford, that was interesting and I'd never heard the TYA version before. However for my taste I still like Cream's version better mainly because of the Force of Nature that is Ginger Baker. His dynamics and complexity create a changing atmosphere that I find more driving and exciting than the slightly drone quality of TYA's version due to the more straight ahead approach of not only the drummer but the whole rhythm of their interpretation. Alvin Lee was a prodigious talent but a lead guitar is pushed and pulled by his backup mates since they define what is even possible to do while still making any musical sense. Somewhat similarly Mitch Mitchell's atmospheric polyrhythms was what allowed Hendrix the freedom to "go outside". Had Ginger Baker been The Experience drummer, Jimi would have sounded completely different.

Here for comparison is Cream's version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ym7Lsqj90c

For a further comparison this is about as "straight ahead" as Jimi ever got.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EX5phFmbrU8

and here is an example of a more free saga showing both Jimi and Mitch "leaving the planet" of the Circle of Fifths.
