First off and not that I needed a reminder as I listen to him regularly, but thank you, Doug G for the Peter Green entry. He's apparently the only guitar player that gave BB King the chills. Amazing talent and unfortunate as well as suspicious story regarding his long hiatus..
Now for The Main Event
Guys! You dimply MUST check out Live at Daryl's House (if you haven't already) and for about 200 reasons. It doesn't matter if you're into Folk, Country, Funk, Soul, Blues, Hard Rock, Jazz... whatever, he has a guest(s) for that genre. They get together for no pay at Daryl's remote rural home in the mountains of New York near the borders with Massachusetts and Connecticut. It is a homey atmosphere but with a truly State of the Art recording facility and a top notch team of engineers and musicians. The best part is the musicianship along with the whole "do it for the Love" vibe that everyone is so obviously pleased with. This makes the tracks especially wonderful to hear since it so obviously was to play. Oh and BTW at 70 years old Daryl looks and sounds as good as he did at 35, just an amazing voice and exquisite taste in music.
[I] don't know why Wikipedia seems to lack some updates but here's at least a partial list of guests/shows and it should be noted that more than one YouTube Channel specializing in Live at Daryl's House is completely ad free! ... hours of ad-free continuous music but the videos are really worth seeing almost as much as the audio is hearing.
And a follow-up with Stephen Stills doing the guitar work on a great cover of a great Donovan song, Season Of The Witch. This is from the Al Kooper/Mike Bloomfield/Steve Stills Super Session jam:
