And what is wrong with that? Nothing! Mobscene by MM is actually very interesting if you ignore the video. Music does not rely on source to be good. Even people who get laughed at by society can make catchy songs like famous PH with Nothing in this world - even haters(fanboy opposite) listen to that song secretly.

@smeezekitty, And there is another problem - stereotypes and need to fit into society without being outlaw. If you won't try listening(in this case) to those songs who are deemed unworthy from mainstream you probably will miss out some catchy tunes. Like in this case this song fits into discussion Skin Deep by NT(not bad popsy song for sexy singer) or Right now by J(despite being somehow girly the song is cool even for boys|man audience). In fact if most of such songs would be first time heard audio only and with zero info about artist i can easily bet a lot of dislikers would enjoy them even in public. Shame comes when ignorance is lost doesn't it?

p.s.Those are just examples. No they are not etalons i just posted some examples i enjoyed some time ago that fit into outsider category. They are not masterpieces but they are not s#1t either.

There is an adage that says "sex sells". Like it or not it appears to be true, Britney Spears (not a fan) always comes to mind with that, with her Toxic and Womanizer videos, other "artist" too I'm sure. When I was growing up if you wanted to see a naked girl you had to sneak a peek at your dads Playboy, now you got it for free on any computer with a internet connection.

"Charlie" got off too easy. As far as Marilyn Manson goes, I've got no use for him. (Must be a generational thing, I like Alice Cooper)

AudioSlave - I am the Highway. Good song

this song speaks volumes

I think the issue I have with Marilyn Manson is singing things like "We're disposable teens" when you're not a teenager and trying to channel teenage angst seems either clever marketing or "trying too hard to fit in with the cool kids". I agree he has some good stuff but some of it is lyrically silly and musically nothing special. Just musical taste again though, I suppose, with a little cynicism.
AS for "sex sells" -- well, yes, that's why these videos are there and why it means you've got to try harder to find good music. Though, sometimes, good music is sexy. There are a couple of Hole tracks, for example, where I find Courtney Love's breathless vocals sexy. So selling music on sex appeal isn't always such a bad thing. I'm of the wrong generation to really appreciate them but I know Blondie were popular and a lot had to do with Debbie Harry's sex appeal of which her looks were only a part.

You just pointed out what i was saying. Flawed judging based on appearance. Not that i disagree with that i also mentioned that even they make good songs from time to time. Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera etc. their music originally was for teens! And when they started they were not naked. Only later they started to show more skin. They changed not because they grew up but also because audience standarts changed aswell - people demanded more skin or they reject new stuff.

Hey it doesn't have to work but you don't have to pretend either. If you are healthy human male female sexuality do work on you just like viceversa.

Precisely! Good music comes even from "sexy" sources like
ATB feat. Heather Nova - Renegade
They are not ugly but they made great song to listen.

That reminded of Titanic song.
Celine Dion - My heart will go on

Rumor has it it could be sunk by octopus too! After all this time it still is presented as mystery.

I am not pretending. A lot of people don't believe me or otherwise think there is something wrong with me.
But it's always kind of "meh" for me. And anytime I see women deliberately sexualized, I tend to be repulsed more than anything.
I don't look at p0rn either.

This is getting off topic though.

That puts us both in the minority. I almost always (there's a oxymoron for you) will go with function over form.

Duran Duran had some fairly racy videos IIRC.

This video cracks me up (and a little sad) everytime.

Thanks for that, I see what you mean about it being both funny and a little sad at the same time.

YW. Sad but true it seems. I suspect my folks felt the same way about my choice of music growing up.
