anyhow, i'm currently reading The Long War. Recommend! Unfortunately I found out only after I started reading that it's a sequel to "The Long Earth"... It's a good book in its own right, but I'm a little sad that when i get around to reading the first part, my enjoyment might be diminished...

I've done that. It is disconcerting to get into a book and find out there is a prequel.

I just finished "The Long War" and turned it back in to the library today. The final three were in so I checked them all out.

it has convinced that i want to read more terry pratchett, but since his output is so vast, i wonder how i should tackle it (also to avoid something like the described situation)?

I started reading Sir Terry's Discworld Series and stopped when our library didn't have one of the books. It has been a while so I'll probably need to start over.

Stephen Baxter (co-author of "The Long Earth" series) is a prolific writer. I haven't read any of his books so think that I'm going to try some of his next.

Consarn-it! I can't find it for Kindle (ny main medium for reading nowadays now my bookcase is full). will look out for it though as I like things like that. Am currently re-reading a book about the Philadelphia Experiment by Charles Berlitz on and off with the new Poirot novels.
