Something by Ruth Rendell, apparently her very last novel “Dark Corners”. Still boring after some 60 pages.

I've just dug out my copy of 'Into the Core' - 'A look at Tiny Core Linux' because I'm having another go with it, may put the PiCore version onto my Raspberry Pi3B.

Sue Grafton's last book, "Y is for yesterday". Excellent as ever, but I do wonder if Sue had any ideas for closing the series with "Z"; perhaps we've been spared having Kinsey Millhone killed in the line of duty.

"Dressing for Altitude", a NASA publication by Dennis Jenkins. A history of pressure suits.

Favourite quote so far (talking about suit colour):
Quote:
The search-and-rescue people want orange in snow or white in jungle areas. Physiologists want a color that keeps the aviator cool. Pilots want something that looks good.

^ wouldn't something like this satisfy everybody?

I'm currently reading a book originally titled "Män som hatar kvinnor", which translates to "Men Who Hate Women", and later became famous as "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo".

I don't remember if I read the book already, but I have definitely seen the swedish film adaptation (strongly recommend) and the hollywood adaptation (also still recommend). In any case, it's been a while.

It's a great story.

Oh, wow!!
SHOGUN is superb.
Back around 1980, they did a 12-hour mini-series starring Richard Chamberlain as the stranded Portuguese trader.
It was all in Japanese.
Really. You got to watch Chamberlain try to learn enough Japanese to survive.

Absolutely astonishing at the time...I don't know how well it would work for today's jaded audiences.

Try "Taipan" while you're at it, but try to ignore the book's modern political incorrectness (is that a real word?)

A new Tolkien book:

https://www.theguardian.com/books/20...lished-in-2018

Does it work? I loved the originals so much I'm leery of follow-ups.

Make sure you start at the beginning!
And since you brought it up, I'm going to read them all again!
Thanks so much!
