The problem with drones (and cars) is that humans control them and for all of our intelligence, some humans are just plain meat-bags. People fly drones into aircraft airspace and can take out an airliner. They can strike any moving vehicle, including cars. Cars are piloted by people that have no business driving because they are on drugs or are drunk, or are using their cell phone.
Robotic tech (and cars) are great, but we humans are certainly not perfect...
None is perfect ofc without taking path to perfection but the drone argument not work cause there exist also computer controled remote control input autopilot software that not need human control input. Just like cars have manual and automatic and semi automatic transmissions so does drones.
That depends entirely on your morals.
I would say no, they're not.
You can't just postulate that some aspect of life, evolution and everything is simply outside of any given moral construct. Well you can, but that's just, like, your opinion.
How so? Doesn't morality imply choice? What technology has choice entirely separate from human choice?
No, they were meant to make complex calculations much faster than humans.
I suspect you mean automation - but I agree, once automation got married to computers things started looking really bleak for many meat bags holding jobs, menial or not.
Not true. The automation part only should affect operation aspect of drones and their flight path(when used for deliveries) not tasks for drone itself where manual input is required. Why would drone operator use manual control all the time if it should be used only when specific input is required? I not see difference with big aircraft|etc. usage but i see more ease to use and proper usage than planes and helicopters for same tasks. Helicopter or Plane for same tasks costs more than single Drone. Elevation video from youtube.

Reason: yt
I think it is fit solution for 'quick(urgent) and small order' deliveries. Burning fuel and driving to deliver|retrieve small amount of items is unnecessary fuel consumption for cars and drivers and slow and unlike cars drones can fly over offroad conditions, bad onroad, avoid traffic jams..and since all kind of drones exist they can even become road and water and underwater drones after flying aka amphibious vehicles.
