Website to lookup phone number is U.S. ?

Anyone know a Website to lookup phone number is U.S. ?

Every site I try wants to charge a fee to show the info.

US phone numbers have a +1 prefix. Every country has a unique code for its phone numbers.

Thanks for the info, but this kinda doesn't answer my question.
Looking for a website to look up someone's phone number, that doesn't charge a fee to do so.

Looking up phone numbers was difficult even 20 years ago and it didn't get easier with the Internet. Cellphones, VOIP and such made that hard enough there is no longer any incentive like there was when everyone was essentially on Ma Bell. I'd be shocked but extremely pleased if there actually is some modern equivalent solution.

I’ve never found one. Even in the “old days,” reverse phone directories had to be purchased.

Apparently the original post wasn't clear to me. As for doing reverse lookups of phone numbers for free, good luck with that. I have an app on my Android phone called Reverse Lookup that attempts to do that, but mostly it just gives up. There is no database of mobile phones, and that's the vast majority of phones these days. We abandoned our landline phone years ago, snd use mobile phones exclusively. I actually have two numbers, the one provided by my telco and one from Google Voice, which works via wifi. I don't believe that you can get a reliable phone lookup even if you pay for it.

Another factor is that spam calls usually use a spoofed phone number, so even if you could look it up it probably wouldn’t lead to the actual caller.

Don't reverse look up sites, have you type in the ph # and then tells you the name?

Isn't it something, that you can't find a website to look up someone's phone number. They quit making all the paper back phone # directories with the invent of the internet.

As I said, you had to buy those. You can certainly buy a "subscription" to one of the existing sites that may work as you want...although I think sgosnell is correct about mobile phones, and I know I'm correct about spoofed numbers. There's no way a call from an call center based in India (from the accent) has a Tucson, AZ telephone number.

A complete directory? Sure, that might have cost you. But up until 2000-ish, I could get a reverse lookup for a phone number using a local (Chicago) phone number: enter the number when prompted and receive information about who that number was assigned to. I used to use it all the time in those days while I was job searching. I think it was the widespread adoption of cellphones that did that service in. The number hasn't worked for years.

Almost all the spam calls I get use a spoofed number. The thing for awhile was to spoof a number very similar to the number being called. I know it's spam if the area code and exchange (first 6 numbers) are the same as mine, because only one person that I know has a phone with those numbers, and it's my wife. I know when she calls me. Anyone else is trying to get my money. Lately they've been using different area codes from the local area, so it's slightly harder. But doing a reverse lookup on a number that called you is often a waste of time, because the number you see is seldom the actual calling number, it's spoofed. If it's a legitimate business with a landline, you will probably see the real number, but it's difficult if even possible to find the owner of most calls. It's really a waste of time.

Yea, and all I'm trying to do is look up the phone number of a person I know. I just need to type in the name and city/state, but it's just not possible to find a free website to do it. Im not trying to identify a person from a number (reverse lookup).

Ah...an entirely different question. (Or we all misunderstood your OP)
I’ve run down folks in Facebook and LinkedIn. Had some success by putting name and city and state into DDG or Google and then drilling down in what information I could see.
There’s always information (411)..but that sometimes costs these days too.
I searched for “phone books” This was an interesting site that came up. Try the suggested https://www.zabasearch.com/ on that page. It gave me my phone number for free

I just tried a couple of the pay-to-view sites using my name, and they showed me living in three different cities, in none of which I've ever lived. I didn't pay for the report, but the free info they gave was mostly incorrect. Do not count on getting the correct address or phone number from online commercial sites.

I also tried the zabasearch site, and it showed the same number for me and my son, neither of which is correct. It also showed the same number for several other people, all with addresses far from the area code listed. It's just badly wrong in this case. My conclusion is that there is no reliable way to get anyone's address or phone number off the internet even if you pay for it.
