An interesting article. But I do have some difficulty relating to his "deplorables". Yes, there's a problem with places where industries have shut down. We tend to avoid that in the UK, because the government steps in — look at this example

So why are those in the USA whose towns are in that situation voting for the party most opposed to any and every government action? Similarly, if alcoholism, drug abuse, and sexual assault are as common as Hedges says, whose fault is that?

While making a valid point. Truthdig is nothing more than a Russian sponsored site that finds fault with everything out side of Russia, while not touching on it's own dealings with the world at large and within it's own country also.

Lets see some Truthdigging about Russia. Betcha can't find any.

The internet is soooooo screwed up now a days. It is hard to tell the flotsam from jetsam. And me. Just a poor uneducated scooter tramp trying to make sense of it all.

I liked Chris Hedges better when he hung out at Link TV. But like everyone else.
I guess he had to sell out to pay the bills.
