Want a penguin as a pet??
In my wasted hours spent looking for useless crap, I came upon a site that sells penguins as pets. I think they're serious....

If this is serious, that is awful, I would never call a pet of mine a "Product"

jqcaducifer 08-27-2003 08:46 PM

Those poor poor things.

How do I return a defective penguin?
You should be ashamed of yourself for this posting ;)

The image looks photoshop'd, but there is a warehouse at the address they have on the site.

I am against forcing animals to live in captivity, especially animals whose habitat is on the open. Penguins aren't like domesticized animals (dogs, cats and etc) who have undergone thousand years of adaptation to life with humans and under captivity.

Ya know what I want!? A SugarGlider! Great pets I hear :) If I can't get a Penguin, I think I'll get me one of those :)

i dont know, they are claiming a good domestic quality- better than a dog they say. is this really for real? maybe if you had a swimming pool for the little guy. wouldnt they get hot? it would be kinda cool if they really made good pets. 'honey, did you see where tux left his krill flavored chew toy?'

oh, and im trying to remeber from the discovery channel, it was the russians and their silver foxes i think... and they unintentionaly determined that it takes something like 20 generations to domesticate an animal. dont quote me on that but if its true then if you figure on the time it takes a penguin to reach sexual maturity X 20 youd know the minimum time needed to produce domesticated penguins. i couldnt see it being less than 20 years at least. quite possibly more.

one thing i can say...i learned that Gentoo is a type of penguin..i actually didnt know that.

as far as buying a penguin....that's crazy. where i live, in the summer time it would probably die if i didnt put in a pool and keep it filled with ice water.

Damn me and Tux would get along just fine. If it gets over 60 I'm sweating like a fat man in the buffet line! We'd sit there in our ice box, and laugh when we saw icicles hanging from our overclocked AMD 2200XP's :D
