Wal-Mart's on-line store has begun offering 8 different models of PC's running the Lindows OS (
www.lindows.com)
The computers sell from $299-$599 and run on both AMD and Intel chips ranging up to 1.8Ghz.
Wal-Mart originally made news when it began shipping machines with no OS installed, a practice frowned upon by Microsoft who claims it encourages piracy of Windows, as no one could possibly want to run another OS.
Lindows is a UNIX based operating system optimized for Broadband usage and fast, stable performance. Wal-Mart also offers it's "Wal-Mart Connect" ISP service for a cost of $9.94 a month (USD)
