Virus Scanning Windoze...

Hi,

Wondering if there is any way to use Knoppix or some distro running off a cd to scan infected Windoze machines?

I've got a few infected machines and the anti virus stuff we've got is having trouble removing them. It'd be cool if I can use nix to clean and destroy!

Any help is much appreciated.

F-prot allows the Linux version of their scanner to be used for free for home use. (Double check their website for exact details in case I botched it.) And I know you can download and use it from a Knoppix live CD. But the way you do this has changed since I have done it. So you might try googling on the terms "Knoppix" and "F-prot"

I used F-Prot to scan my windows all the time. It's easy, and faster than using a dedicated
windows AV. It seems to do a better job too, especially from the command line.
