I hang out at person.com a lot. (Which is a bit video cam chat/dating site) But they recorded me in my bikini and I had an argument with one of my firends there. Plus there's quite a lot of oofensive appraches to me on there. Someone said a lighter option for me would be paltalk. But of course it doesn't work in linux. A lot of the cam sites I have been too, have too small communities, plus they rarely work properly in linux. Can anyone recommend a site I might be able to hang out and kill my boredome in that works in linux. Something kind of similar to person or linux. I've been checking out teamspeak a bit but it's quite technical and I don't really think it's what I'm looking ofr? Somewhere you can browse profiles with photos cam and chat would be good. And big like person. Hope I've got my wishes across, thanks so much for your help.

Just wondering, how do you do this stuff. I mean, I've never been on these any of these sites and I don't know what I'd start a conversation about. If it's real life in a bar the setup is already dating so you either have to be fully ok with it to the point of not seeming aware or caring... or perhaps finding a excuse around the situation to break ice. I don't know many people who can say hi to anyone straight away at the start of a night so I expect this to be common. Likewise, finding something to talk about...? If it's real life there might be something happen, the train breaks down, or perhaps you see something on someone that is genuinely interesting that you want to know about. I've been in situations on flights where 2 people want to talk but custom is so strong that they don't. I guess that isn't in place here.

All this is for English speaking places of course. It depends on lots of things.

A lot of these sites seem to be `bored people get together to entertain one another`, that's alright but isn't there some subjects, common interests. places to discuss interesting stuff, philosophy, making cash. pretty people get boring pretty quick unless there's more of them than you and I expect this to be a (sad old immature?) sausage fest in this case... sounds like you'd prefer something a bit more classy. I'd like to see a linux video chat room, sounds like you should hang out with mark shuttleworth or jono bacon

I agree that video chats of this type are just empty/bored people who do not have much going on in their life.

It would be interesting to have a good video chat for Gnu/Linux with subs that support specific areas of interest.

Maybe one way for some a camera is not required. But if a video chat between parties then how do you expect to create the video minus the camera? What do you think a WebCam is for? Live video chats are audio & video communication between parties. Your last sentence makes no sense as composed. Apprehend people: What exactly are you trying to say?
