Uses for old RAM sticks?

I am slowly acumulating old 256Meg RAM sticks (PC-2100, Non-eec, DDR ram, you know, the old, basic stuff) as various computers get upgraded.

Where can they be donated to, or used? I have visions of someone designing a 16-slot motherboard so that old RAM could be used for Vista, but I used to envision me and Raquel Welch, too. Recyling seems like a weak answer; this is perfectly good stuff. Any ideas?

keep them and find a old machine to put them in and give it it to some kid. with linux on it. or melt it down for the silver and gold. Google recycle

If you have enought this is pretty bad ass and would demand geek cred if installed in any cubicle and or living room if the wifey is the understanding sort.

Exchange them for other old hardware and build computer from used parts. Could be interesting.

craigslist or coffee table

1. Put them up in "free stuff" on craigslist. Some 17 year old linux geek will drive his mom's SUV to your house and be very appreciative.

2. Accumulate as many as you can and screw them onto the top of a cheap coffee table. Take this into work and put it in the lobby or in the coffee room.

That was rather funny. And there was something funny about Jameson Williams's first idea.

You could punch a hole in it - and hang it on the rear view mirror of your car. Interesting "accessory" to flaunt in front of your date ...

I'm thinking more along the lines of real uses. These are good, if obsolete, pieces. Pity there's not a motherboard designed to take gobs of old RAM to come up with enough to actually run a half-way modern system.

Yeah, like RAID for RAM...
