Uses for FreeDOS?

Does anybody have any good ideas as to how I can put FreeDOS to use? I would like to be able to use a GUI like IceWM, but have not gotten that far. Still need to figure out how to get some of this other stuff to work, but I saw shots of IceWM running via cygwin/x (which has X11 for DOS). I tried out the Seal 2.0 GUI they have available and in true Windows form, I had to restart the GUI every time I tried to do anything.

Other than that, I'm just wanting to know what exactly I can do with FreeDOS other than find a use for the old Quake, Wolfenstein3D, Doom, and Duke3D stuff I have laying around. Any ideas on this would be appreciated since I just installed FreeDOS this morning along with the games mentioned, beat the games and started on the GUI stuff all before dinner.

As a replacement for MS(PC)-DOS. . . .

Otherwise you're probablly better off using a stripped down Linux distro. It's just another tool. Use it to solve existing problems rather than creating new ones to apply it to.
