Universal SSD Reader
Hello guys, is there such a thing as SSD reader that is compatible for all SSD on the market?
Basically, like a SATA HDD. In which we can plug-out a SATA HDD and plug-in to USB and read from other PC. SSD has already this kind of thing? Thanks. |
Something like the posted link should be compatible with most any hard drive.

Hi Michaelk, I was looking for an SSD Reader, that can be connected to USB.
Thanks. |
Then I do not understand your question nor what you mean by

Well, unless you have one of the M.2 SSD drives. Those mount directly on the motherboard and use a special connector. Those would need a different USB adapter. Random example: http://www.microsatacables.com/m-2-n...pter-with-case

Good catch. Forgot about a PCIe SSD...

Sorry for the confusion, what I mean is an SSD reader that works like the SATA to USB.
Example, I have a desktop or a laptop with an SSD. Then I need to plug out the SSD. Is there a device that I'm able to read the SSD without the motherboard? Thanks. |

An ordinary SSD is an SATA device. An adapter that converts SATA to USB will work just fine with an SSD. If you have one of the small (physically, that is) M.2 SSD drives, then you need a different type of adapter, like the one I gave a link for above, but it will allow you to access that M.2 device from a computer with a USB port. If you've got some other type of device, please state exactly what you have. |
Hi Rknichols, the one from your link: M.2 NGFF PCIe SSD to USB 3.0 Adapter with Case
Is this the standard use for all Laptop and Desktop using SSD? The price on the link you provided is too pricey for me. :) Thanks for the link, BTW. |
